Building Bridges: Rotary Partners with OHS for AVID Mentorship

Jason Curtis

Jaime Regan

Jen Donovan

Our club is taking a bold step forward in youth development. This week, Principal and Rotarian Jason Curtis introduced Oconomowoc High School AVID instructors Jen Donovan and Jaime Regan to outline a powerful new partnership.

AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is more than just a class; it’s a global program that supports students in the "academic middle"—those with the drive to succeed in college but who may lack the professional networks or family history in higher education to navigate the path alone. By closing the "opportunity gap," AVID ensures that every student has a seat at the table.

As a pilot partner, the Oconomowoc Rotary Club will launch a structured mentorship program this fall. Members will have the chance to work directly with students once a month, helping them become "Future Ready" through professional coaching, resume building, and sharing real-world career insights.

Get Involved: We need mentors! Contact Jaime Regan at reganj@oasd.org.

Classification: The Extraordinary Journey of Cris Rosario

Last week, Cris Rosario delivered a classification talk that highlighted a life of constant creativity and entrepreneurial spirit. His career began in the music industry, working alongside high-profile icons like Bobby Brown and Guns N' Roses. Transitioning into digital design at Mattel in Florida, Cris led the team responsible for launching the first-ever digital Barbie.

It was a display design opportunity that eventually brought Cris to Wisconsin. While here, he met the owner of a local paddleboard business; Cris initially ran the operation for him before eventually buying the business out. Today, he successfully operates that venture alongside a thriving Real Estate career. Real estate is truly in his blood, as his extended family is full of agents.

Beyond his professional life, Cris and his wife stay busy with their large family—together they share six children and three grandchildren! Cris's diverse background and commitment to family and business make him a wonderful addition to our club. Welcome, Cris!

THE END OF AN ERA

CELEBRATING 25 YEARS OF SERVICE

King Ed with Megan Welsh and Ann Johnson

The Bingo Committee at Splash

It was a night to remember at Shorehaven as Ed Johnson hosted his final session as Chair of our Rotary Bingo committee. After 25 incredible years, Ed was fittingly crowned "King" for the evening. Following the session, the crew moved to Splash Martini Bar to toast to Ed’s legacy. In attendance was Megan Welsh—the person who first convinced Ed to take the job back in 2001! While the torch now passes to Bonnie "Bon-Bon" Terrill, Ed's impact on our Shorehaven friends will never be forgotten.

THANK YOU, ED!
