At our regular noon meeting on the Shorehaven campus this past Monday, the Rotary Club of Oconomowoc celebrated three remarkable Oconomowoc High School seniors who embody the spirit of resilience. Hector De Los Santos, Zoe Hemmerling, and Thien Nguyen were each honored with the Lyle Neeb Perseverance Award, a distinction reserved for students who demonstrate valiance and resourcefulness in the face of personal and academic challenges.

OHS staff members Alex Eidman, Susan Verhagen, Erin Sommerfeld, and Brianne McGuire shared moving tributes to each recipient. They highlighted the students' courage and tenacity in mastering new languages, honing critical speech skills, and exploring diverse cultural and academic platforms.

Presenting on behalf of the club, Jerry McNellis relayed a powerful message from Rotary President Mike Menefee to the scholars. “Consider that this is a contract,” the students were told. “We are investing in you.” The Lyle Neeb Perseverance Award carries forward the legacy of its namesake, a dedicated Rotarian and former OHS faculty member who initiated this scholarship program decades ago to ensure that perseverance is always recognized and rewarded.

Join us on Saturday, May 9th at 8:00 AM for our annual Highway Clean-up. We are proud to partner with Boy Scout Troop 12 for this event.

On May 11th, we welcome the Lake Area Free Clinic (LAFC) as our guest speaker. Our goal is to present them with a massive supply of adult toothbrushes and travel-sized toothpaste to support their dental program.

Thank you to Stoeckl Dentistry! We are challenging all members: who else can secure a bulk donation from their dentist? Every extra brush helps a neighbor in need.

We are highlighting the physical legacy our club has built around Oconomowoc. Once our list is complete, we'll be asking members to visit these spots for a social media photo campaign!
