Mary Madden, (above) NAMI Executive Director described the support, education and advocacy efforts of her organization, from peer specialists, crisis training, de-escalation, the Lighthouse Project, and recovery enhancement. Literally saving lives daily, NAMI engages more than 100 volunteers and 31 employees. One in five American adults are now impacted by mental illness, and one in six youth. ”People need support,” Vella told Rotarians, “And we will never give up hope.” The fundraiser Blue Jean Bingo takes place May 2. OASD staff commended the organization for its prompt response in crisis situations, youth outreach, and proven ability to shape positive, productive and healthy lives.
